We hosted a very special visitor on May 17, now Dr Mia Maric, who completed an outstanding Honour’s project with us in 2018 (University medal amongst numerous other awards). Since then, she has completed a PhD on nuclear materials in record time at The University of Manchester and worked as a consultant at Jacobs in the UK. Notably, she recently won a highly competitive industry sponsored five-year fellowship at Manchester, potentially leading into a permanent academic appointment. What a star. While holidaying in Australia before embarking on this new journey, she gave a seminar on hydrides in Zr alloys, had coffee and lunch with us, and lead a round table with our students and PostDocs.
