Thirteen of us (!) all went to Melbourne to attend the Materials Australia CAMS conference at the University of Melbourne (June 1-3). For some HDR students, this was their first face to face conference experience, and we contributed one keynote lecture (Sophie), one invited talk (Nima), nine contributed talks (various team members), and one poster (Maxwell). Well done everyone on promoting our amazing research and team. Notably, Maxwell took home the ‘people’s choice’ poster award for his poster on additive manufacturing of 316L stainless steel. Well done!

Further, we had lots to celebrate at a big feast at an amazing Chinese restaurant. To name just a few recent successes: Vitor’s and Arnab’s latest publications (although those two missed the dinner), Wilson’s thesis submission and job offer by our industry partner, Arnab’s thesis writing scholarship, and of course Max’ poster award.
